Terms of Use
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Use govern your access to MotorCodex, including its articles, specifications, tools, links, and Codi assistant. By accessing or using MotorCodex, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Educational information only
MotorCodex provides general educational information. It does not provide professional repair services, inspections, engineering advice, legal advice, warranty determinations, or a guaranteed diagnosis. Using the site does not create a mechanic-customer, professional, fiduciary, or agency relationship.
A website cannot inspect your vehicle, verify its configuration, observe symptoms, measure components, or account for every modification and prior repair. Confirm specifications, procedures, recalls, warranty terms, and part fitment with the documentation for your exact vehicle and a qualified professional when appropriate.
Assumption of risk and user responsibility
Vehicle diagnosis and repair can cause serious injury, death, fire, environmental harm, or damage to a vehicle and other property. You are solely responsible for deciding whether you have the tools, training, workspace, and physical ability to perform any check or repair. Use appropriate personal protective equipment, properly rated lifting equipment, and the factory procedure for your exact vehicle.
Do not continue driving a vehicle with signs of brake failure, steering loss, fuel leakage or odor, overheating, severe fluid loss, smoke, fire, a flashing warning light, high-voltage damage, or any condition that may be unsafe. Stop in a safe place and contact emergency services, roadside assistance, towing, or a qualified technician as appropriate.
Codi and automated responses
Codi uses automated artificial intelligence to generate general guidance. Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate for your vehicle. Do not rely on Codi as the sole basis for a repair, safety decision, part purchase, or decision to continue driving.
Do not submit confidential or sensitive personal information. Questions may be processed by service providers and retained in a pseudonymous form for security, quality review, and content improvement as described in the Privacy Policy.
Accuracy, availability, and no warranties
MotorCodex is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MotorCodex disclaims all express and implied warranties, including accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, availability, and results. We do not guarantee that a procedure will solve a problem, that a part will fit, or that prices, specifications, recall data, or warranty information are current or complete.
Third-party services, products, and links
Links to manufacturers, government services, retailers, videos, and other third parties are provided for convenience. MotorCodex does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, products, privacy practices, availability, fitment data, or transactions. A link does not mean that the third party endorses MotorCodex or that MotorCodex guarantees the third party.
Some links are affiliate links, which may earn MotorCodex a commission at no additional cost to you. See the Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Your submissions and acceptable use
If you submit a question, correction, suggestion, or other content, you represent that you have the right to provide it. You grant MotorCodex a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to use, edit, translate, and publish the submission for operating and improving the site, including in anonymized educational content. Do not submit confidential information or content you do not have permission to share.
You may not interfere with site security, attempt unauthorized access, submit malicious content, use the site to violate law or another person’s rights, or falsely present MotorCodex content as a guaranteed professional diagnosis. Reasonable indexing by search engines and AI discovery services is permitted, but bulk copying, resale, or republication of substantial MotorCodex content is not.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MotorCodex and its owners, contributors, service providers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages, or for vehicle damage, property damage, bodily injury, lost profits, lost data, towing charges, repair costs, or other losses arising from or related to use of, or reliance on, the site. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MotorCodex and its owners, contributors, service providers, and affiliates from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of the site, violation of these Terms, or violation of another person’s rights.
Governing law and changes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute not subject to a different legally required forum will be brought in a court with jurisdiction in Virginia. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and changing the date above. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Questions may be sent to [email protected].
