Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
MotorCodex is a reference site — no accounts, no sign-ups, no selling of personal information. This policy explains the little we do collect and why.
What we collect
Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages help people (visits, pages viewed, approximate region, device type). This data is aggregated; we don’t use it to identify you.
VIN lookups: when you use the VIN tool, the VIN is sent to the U.S. government’s NHTSA public APIs to retrieve your vehicle’s information. We cache the anonymous API responses briefly for speed; we do not build profiles from VIN lookups.
Server logs: our host, Cloudflare, processes standard technical logs (IP, user agent) to serve and secure the site.
Cookies and advertising
Analytics cookies support the measurement described above. If we display advertising (e.g., Google AdSense), ad providers may use cookies to serve and measure ads; you can manage ad personalization through your Google settings and your browser’s cookie controls.
Some outbound links are affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure). Affiliate networks may set cookies on their own sites to attribute purchases.
Your consent and choices
Before any analytics or advertising cookies are set, we ask for your consent through a banner with equal Accept and Essential-only options. If you choose Essential only, no analytics or advertising scripts load. You can change your decision at any time via the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer.
You can additionally block cookies in your browser or use tracker blocking, and the site keeps working. For any privacy question or request — including access or deletion requests under GDPR or similar laws — email [email protected].
Children
MotorCodex is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change, with the date above.
